Well another bank holiday is upon us in the UK. Traditionally bank holidays are spent winging our way to the seaside for a weekend of sun, sand and…….well usually wall to wall rain actually. Nether-the-less we have some luxurious suggestions on how you could spend your weekend away by the sea.
The Burgh Island Hotel is an iconic Art Deco retreat on its own little island in Devon. This 1930s landmark is inspired by the ocean liners of the day. Only accessible when the tides are low, many a famous name has frequented the hotel including Agatha Christie; it is clear to see where she got her inspiration for her novels from. Sip cocktails in style and dress to the nines over beautiful seasonal dinners. We think you could get away with the Heather Silk Bettie Nightgown as a 30’s style evening gown, maybe with a fur stole, but perhaps if you are not that adventurous you could team it with the matching bed jacket to dine one of the Art Deco bedroom suites. Why not spend the weekend luxuriating in the spa treatment rooms, sunbathing (weather permitting) on the private beaches or simply supping champagne in 1930s elegance at the cocktail bar. Bliss!
Perhaps a bustling little fishing town is more your ‘thing’ than a secluded island. Why not wear the uber trendy Limited Edition Nikki Kimono at the equally as fashionable South Sands Hotel in Salcombe, Devon. There are heaps of cute little shops to browse in the nearby Salcombe town centre, fresh seafood restaurants to dine at, seas to be sailed and bracing cliff top walks to be had. The added bonus with the South Sands Hotel is that you can take your pet dog with you, so it’s a weekend away for all the family! This style of weekend will blow the cobwebs from your heads and leave you fully refreshed for the shorter working week ahead.
