There is a saying that all good things must come to an end, and thus so must Betty Blue’s Loungewear.  Since I (Betty) moved to the rural countryside of Dorset, from the hustle and bustle of the Hampshire commuter belt, I have struggled to adjust to being a country bumpkin.  Running your own business from home can be hard at the best of times, but I found the isolation of rural England a little hard at times to cope with.  Being nearer to London at my old home, running my own business was fun and almost a little too easy.  I had a support network of friends and fellow business owners up in London and that is something that helped spur me along to grow Betty Blue’s.  Since moving to the countryside I have struggled to find a close network of peers to help keep my spirits up and inspire me to further my career.  You see in the English countryside, it is mainly retired people who I don’t have a lot in common with, and older business men and women, who perhaps don’t relate to my business model and dare I say they don’t ‘get’ social media.  So I have really struggled to find the enthusiasm and motivation to keep driving my business forward.  In short, I am starting to lose the love.

I love my customers and I have genuinely loved producing gorgeous little fripperies for people to wear.  I have many repeat customers that fill me with joy every time I see that they have ordered again and again.  It’s still funny to think that people actually want the things that I have created in my head.  I can’t thank you all enough for the support over the years and emails of thanks and encouragement.  It has meant the world to me, but I feel I am now ready for a new adventure in my life and new challenges – in a slightly less rural location!  I am moving to the city to study wine!  (If it doubt drink! ;))

What does this mean for Betty Blue’s?  Well not too much will change at the moment.  There will be no new collections or products, but my online shop and website will still be up.  Any made to order items will now disappear from the website as I won’t have time or space to sew up little items.  You will still be able to order items that I have in stock, and I will still send them out to you as normal.  Things will run as normal until after Valentine’s 2018, so you can still get our gorgeous gowns in time for Christmas and Valentine’s.  Then after March/April of next year I will switch to only having an Etsy shop whilst I still have stock of items.  You may also notice that social media posts will start to decrease and we probably won’t send out too many newsletters over the next year or so.  This will also mean that anything that we have in the shop, if you don’t buy it now then you will miss out as nothing is going to get made again.  So if there is something in stock that you love, don’t wait!!!

I feel sad to be winding up my business, but I feel it is the right thing to do so that I don’t completely lose the love of lingerie and loungewear that I have.  I am very excited to be entering a new chapter of my life in another area that I have a passion for.

Once again thank you to all of those who have supported Betty Blue’s Loungewear over the years.  It is not often that people get to follow their dreams, so the fact that I have been able to run my own loungewear brand has meant so much to me.

Lots of Love
