That mans head is Mat himself!

A sort and sweet post for you all today on something I thought you might all be interested in.  Our SS15 collection photographer, Mat Keller, is currently fundraising his new project via Kickstarter.  Here is a little bit about the new project:

“In Retrospect is a lifestyle periodical featuring everything old, old fashioned or retro styled.

We are a modern magazine but for “Old Fashioned” people.

Covering vintage fashion & style, music, dancing, history, culture, furniture, design, technology, transport and much more – our aim is to provide a magazine that not only encompasses every part of the vintage lifestyle but caters for the tastes of anyone and everyone with a penchant for days gone by.

Now, we know that there are already other ‘vintage’ magazines out there, but we aim to be a little different.

First off, we pride ourselves on being the only magazine run by full-time vintage enthusiasts – we live and breathe the past everyday of our lives!

Secondly we are lucky enough to have many full-time vintage dressers and enthusiasts as regular contributors. These include, amongst many others: Vintage bloggers Fleur de Guerre, Gemma Seager, Susie Earlam and G.M. Norton; event co-ordinatorBethan Soanes; historian and director of the Crime Writers’ Association Lucy Santos; clothing designers Karen James-Welton & Sally Sweetlove; Hair and Make-up artistKerry Curl; Milliner Ellen Bowden; Vintage model Ava Aviacion and European Lindy-Hop champion Sharon Davis!”

If you click this link, it will take you to the kickstarter page where you can read more, learn about the pledge rewards and also find a link to a free online copy of the magazine so you can have a little look at what sort of articles you might enjoy in the future.  What is really exciting about this project is that it is not a magazine just aimed at women, chaps you are thought about too!

There are just 10 days of this campaign left so get clicking and get pledging!  I promise you won’t be disappointed.

On a completely different note, I am sure you are all aware that Halloween is just around the corner.  Here is some inspiration if you are entertaining for Halloween this year.

Black Devil Martini

Black Devil Martini

I don’t know about you, but you can’t beat a good dry martini.  Want a spooky and spectacularly classy alternative to this classic cocktail to sup whilst schmoozing at your Halloween party?  How about this yummy Black Devil Martini.

2oz dark rum
1/2oz dry vermouth
Black olive

Stir ingredients over ice and strain into a martini glass.  Garnish with a black olive.  And don’t you just love the orange rim around the glass that cookingchanneltv.com has created, where I got this yummy recipe from.

Whilst you are supping on these tasty martinis, you will need some devilish snacks to pass around.  I love this savoury idea of Halloween shaped chips and a gruesome green dip, that is actually quite healthy!  To make you will need

Spooky chips and dips

Spooky chips and dips

Flour tortillas
Halloween cookie cutters
Oil
3 ripe avocados
Juice of 1 lime
1 finely chopped chilli
Bunch of chopped coriander
1 garlic clove finely chopped
Salt to taste

Use the cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the flour tortillas.  Brush each side with oil and bake until golden in the oven.  Meanwhile put all the guacamole recipes in a blender and blitz until combined.  Enjoy!

With the advent of the internet there are a whole host of websites with great ideas for spooky Halloween themed snacks and cocktails so if these two of my favourite don’t tickle your fancy, then a google search is sure to help you.  Now onto your spook-tacular outfit to make your guests green with envy.  Here is our suggestions
